Bui Xuan Phai (1920-1988) was one of the most famous painters in Vietnam, known by the nickname "Painter of Hanoi's Old Quarter". He dedicated his whole life to painting Hanoi with its ancient streets, women with traditional hats, and the simple life of Hanoi people.
